He works great in full sun, not much in clouds, and works okay under a 100W light bulb. It's a great tool to show your kids how solar cells work. My kids loved making a shadow over him to make him stop wiggling. I agree with other reviewers that the instructions are a bit confusing and I don't think a child could do it alone. But, he is surprisingly durable for being so little. This item is such a cute way to teach solar power lessons. Tiny and delicate, this tool should be assembled by an adult. But once assembled it provides an intriguing learning tool for a child or young adult.

I brought this to explain to my kids ( 8 years old and 6 years old) how te sun can offer us Energy.
!They love it!
Quality is really good, I have mine on my office, just over a small bonsai what I had, people ask me what is, and I am happy show how is work... so... Is not just for kids :)
do not need batteries.

The crazy grasshopper is a nice toy for kids.
The build quality is good and all you need to do for the toy to stop vibrating is stop direct sunlight on it.
